Welcome to Odyssey PDA Support Group

Odyssey PDA is a peer-to-peer support group for parents / caregivers of individuals (both adults and children) diagnosed with, or thought to have, the autism profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). The group provides an opportunity to meet informally within High Wycombe, South Bucks, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire; share experiences, and positively support each other.

Hi, my name is Hilary, I’m the founder and co-ordinator of Odyssey PDA but more importantly a parent to two wonderful PDAers aged 17 & 20 at the time of writing! (Sept 2025)

I started this group in July 2015 as the 'South Bucks PDA Support Group', because I’d found it difficult to find any parent support groups or professional understanding around PDA locally.  I've always run the group personally on a voluntary basis and receive no financial funding.  However, during the last 10 years the group has grown and now offers support to over 500 families across the whole of Buckinghamshire, and into Berkshire, Oxfordshire plus several other neighbouring counties and beyond!  There are also about 100 professionals / supporters across similar counties who have asked to receive regular information to support their work with young people and families.  Therefore, to celebrate our 10th anniversary I've changed our name to Odyssey PDA to better reflect the wider area covered, and highlight support shared throughout a PDA journey!

Odyssey PDA - representing a journey full of adventures and experiences whilst sharing together knowledge and understanding around PDA.

As a Trustee of the PDA Society, I’m also committed to sharing information written from both professional research and the lived experience of PDAers, their families and PDA inclusive professionals.  Therefore, much of the information shared on this site is based around the work undertaken by the PDA Society, and more in-depth information can be found on their website.
